NEW TAX CREDIT INCENTIVE IN PLACE

This summer, PA lawmakers passed legislation and the Governor signed into law Act 55 of 2007, the (new) $75 million Pennsylvania Film Production Tax Credit Program. Effective July 1, 2007, Pennsylvania provides a 25% Film Production Tax Credit for film production expenses incurred in the Commonwealth. The transferable tax credit is available for feature films, TV shows and series, and commercials intended for a national audience. In order to qualify for the tax credit, 60 percent of the total production expenses must be incurred in Pennsylvania. No more than $75 million per year can be awarded. A qualified PA expense is production expense that is subject to PA taxes. There is no per project cap. Applications will be considered in the order in which they are received. Please review the guidelines and application below for more information on the Tax Credit. Appendix D and Appendix E of the guidelines will be available shortly. The PA Film Office will continue to accept applications for productions scheduled in the coming fiscal year. This is a great website.I was born in the Philadelphia area and would love to contribute to film making in this great city of ours.I live in Arizona and am currently taking classes at a college but look forward to moving back soon. I think something that wold make this forum even greater would be a forum where everybody could network and socialize and exchange ideas and stuff. Thanks for everything.Oh,nice and smooth,I'm in a Philly mood.

The PA Grant Program is very competitive with other state's incentives but the absurdly low $10 million/year funding cap severly hampers it. New York's less attractive tax credits offer $90 million/year and have produced an explosion of work there. Pennsylvania has to up the ante to make it's excellent program really succeed.

JUST A HEADS UP FILMMAKERS and FILM LOVERS... Exciting things are happening with these incentives. Please stay tuned...we will be calling upon everyone to help us make PA the most attractive filmmaking location on the East Coast!

The PA filmmaker incentives are nice and will definitely boost our state's economy. David Oh, a candidate for Philadelphia City Council at Large, has a plan to bring more incentives to filmmakers who shoot in our great city. Check out his video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BMf-Yjtd0b4
