...commonly referred to as “rights clearances” or simply “clearances,” these transfers of rights cover the entire spectrum of intellectual property needed to make a motion picture, including literary, music and sound, publicity and privacy, trademark, fair use and other rights.
Panelists will briefly describe the principal kinds of intellectual property rights for which clearances may be required. We will discuss the legal aspects of identifying and obtaining the necessary clearances. In addition, panelists will present and discuss examples of agreements and documentation used to obtain clearances, including licenses, releases, registrations, etc.
This course fulfills 2 substantive credits.
