The 2008 Women In Film FILM FINISHING FUND Application Deadline is February 8, 2008

The Women in Film Film Finishing Fund is a project of Women In Film (WIF/LA) The WIF Film Finishing Fund supports filmmakers who make thoughtful and provocative films by or about women. The only one of its kind, the WIFF Film Finishing Fund is in its 23rd year of existence and has awarded more than $1.6 million in cash and in-kind services.

Through its Foundation, WIF sets aside a specific amount each year for its Film Finishing Fund (FFF) grant program to help support independent video and filmmakers who are working in or who actively seek to be working in the entertainment industry and who demonstrate advanced and innovative media making skills consistent with the organization’s goals, which are:  
 
1) to increase employment and promote equal opportunities for women in the
    entertainment industry
2) to encourage individual creative projects by women and further their
    professional development
3) to enhance the media image of women
4) to influence prevailing attitudes and practices regarding and on behalf of women

TIMELINE:  From December 1, 2007 through February 8, 2008, the Women In Film Foundation will accept applications for 2008 Film Finishing Fund grants. This means that only films which have completed principal photography and a
rough cut at the time of application will be considered for funding. 

Applications must be RECEIVED (not postmarked) at the Women In Film Foundation on or before Friday, February 8, 2008 to be considered for funding.   
 
TYPES OF GRANTS AVAILABLE:
1) CASH AWARDS.  Unrestricted cash grants up to $5,000 per project
2) IN-KIND AWARDS.  On-line editing, sound editing and other
    post-production services are awarded in several major metropolitan cities,
    including Los Angeles, New York and Washington, DC (some restrictions
    may apply)
3) CONSULTATIONS with appropriate Women In Film and/or Women In Film
    Foundation board members may be provided for specific mentoring purposes
