“Why Vote?” YouTube Video Contest

Norristown, PA – The Montgomery Bar Association (MBA) is encouraging local independent filmmakers of all ages to participate in their “Why Vote?” YouTube Video Contest, which was launched recently to urge citizens to vote in the upcoming elections and to promote political activism in our community.

All individuals, especially those who wish to build a portfolio or work on a creative summer project are highly encouraged to submit a video. This is a great project for students, teachers, interns and/or anyone interested in film, communications, the arts, civics or politics. Aside from a chance to win a $1,000 cash prize, this is a great opportunity to have your work seen by others in our community. Finalists will be given a fair amount of coverage in local media.

The contest is sponsored by the Montgomery Bar Association, Commerce Bank and the Montgomery Bar Foundation. The video should be no more than three minutes in length and answer the question “Why Vote?” in a creative and original manner. Entries will be accepted between now and Thursday, October 9, 2008 at 12:00 p.m. Contest rules and additional information can be found on our homepage at http://www.montgomerybar.org (See “Why Vote” article) or call 610-279-9660, Ext. 213 for more information.

The contest is part of a nonpartisan initiative by the MBA Community Outreach Committee to raise political awareness and to remind citizens to embrace their Constitutional right to vote—a fundamental aspect of the foundation of the United States. By encouraging citizens to express their views and ideas about voting, the MBA hopes to increase patriotism and involvement throughout our community.
