We know..."Green" is the new Black! Everywhere you look, everyone is "going- green", but unlike pet rocks or rubix cubes our environment is not a passing fad, so consider this a new era in Philadelphia filmmaking!
Since the Greater Philadelphia Film Office (GPFO) works to attract film production to our region, which creates thousands of jobs for local filmmakers and professionals in related industries and generates billions of dollars in economic impact for our region and state, we decided to take a closer look at our local industry's usage and waste indexes. We found that the local filmmaking community is not where it should be, but most working professionals are open to adopting more eco-friendly production practices. The most common feedback involved a need for a comprehensive listing of recycling resources in the area. We decided to do what we do best, and that's give our filmmakers what they need!
In this section, you will find recommended practices for reducing your "carbon footprint" in your Production Offices and On The Set. These standards have been acquired from the Environmental Media Association (EMA), the same organization that certifies "Green Seals" for Hollywood studio productions.
Going forward, we will research and update best practices and resources from an array of environmental organizations, business networks and government agencies intended to aide and inspire you to Go Greener! GPFO is not only committed to driving local filmmakers toward sustainability, but as our mission states, to help visiting crews complete their productions faster, cheaper, better...and now GREENER!
