Scholarships in Broadcasting

The Broadcast Pioneers of Philadelphia are offering scholarships to current
college sophomores and juniors who are communications majors (or majoring
in other associated studies/studying radio, TV, film production or other related fields).

Eligibility includes permanent residence in the Delaware Valley (or surrounding area)
or study at a Delaware Valley College or University. The online application procedure
takes less than 5 minutes to complete. The deadline is February 12, 2010.

Partners in Progress Grant

Applications are now being accepted for the $25,000 production grant from
Allied Pixel. Eligible projects include production of a video, website interactive
application. Nonprofits in the greater Philly region are eligible to apply. One
grant is awarded per year.

If you know of a non that could benefit, please encourage them to apply.
The application process is now open through March 31, 2010.

Northern Liberties Neighbors Association

Liberty Lands, Northern Liberties' neighborhood-owned and -operated park,
seeks proposals for a movie series to be screened at the park in summer 2010.
A budget of up to $3,500 is available for the successful applicant to plan and
screen a series, ideally of ten movies over the course of the summer. Movies
will be free and open to the public, drawing viewers from Northern Liberties
and surrounding neighborhoods. Film screenings will begin at dusk and be held
on the same weekday night over the course of the series (i.e., each Tuesday
night for the course of 10 weeks). Successful applicants will consider both adult
and family audiences in the programming and bear in mind the off-beat sensibilities
of the community.

The Roy W. Dean Grant New York City Grant

In the last decade, the Roy W. Dean Grants have grown into one the largest
film grant competitions in the world. This year alone, we expect to have close
to $100,000 in donations for our two Los Angeles grants, and $50,000 for our
New York Grant.

The NEA American Recovery & Reinvestment Act

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act provides $50 million to be
distributed in direct grants to fund arts projects and activities which preserve
jobs in the non-profit arts sector threatened by declines in philanthropic and
other support during the current economic downturn. Forty percent of such
funds will be distributed to State arts agencies and regional arts organizations
and 60 percent of the funds will be competitively awarded to nonprofit
organizations that meet the eligibility criteria being established for this
program.

Applicants will be required to submit their applications electronically through
Grants.gov, the federal government's online application system. All
applicants must be registered with Grants.gov in order to submit their
application. If you have already registered with Grants.gov, renew/verify
your registration with Grants.gov and make sure that all of your information
is current before you apply. Organizations that are not already registered
should allow at least two weeks to complete this multi-step process.

NATIONAL ENDOWMENT FOR THE HUMANITIES

An independent grant-making agency of the United States government dedicated to
supporting research, education, preservation, and public programs in the
humanities.

PANAVISION CAMERA (New Filmmaker Equipment Grant)

Through this ongoing program, Panavision donates the use of 16mm or 35mm
motion picture camera equipment to filmmakers who are making Public Service
Announcements, Showcase Reels, "Low-Budget" Independent Features or any
other type of Short, Non-Profit films.

THE PAUL ROBESON FUND FOR INDEPENDENT MEDIA

Supports media activism and grassroots organizing by funding the
pre-production and distribution of social issue film and video projects,
and the production and distribution of radio projects. In order to qualify,
proposed film and video projects must promote social change in their
treatment of themes such as political and economic injustice, racial and
gender justice, sexual politics, AIDS, censorship, cultural wars, militarism
and environmental justice. Grants vary with a maximum award of $15,000
(most grants are from $3000 to $8000).

The Fledgling Fund

The Fledgling Fund seeks to improve the lives of vulnerable individuals, families,
and communities by supporting innovative media projects that target
entrenched social problems.

PIVFA Finishing Grant

PIVFA is dedicated to increasing the creative capacity of Philadelphia media
artists, promoting public appreciation of independent media making, and
encouraging the talent and ability of the region's creative community of
filmmakers. PIFVA provides Finishing Funds Grant for post-production
services up to $1000.

The Acadamy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences

The Acadamy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences awards Institutional Grants,
for supporting motion picture related programs, universities and non-profit
organizations, Film Festival Grants providing funds in support of film festivals,
and Acadamy Film Scholar grants for innovative and significant works in film
scholarship.

Film Independent

Each year, Film Independent awards a number of grants to help filmmakers with their
current projects, as well as to recognize them for past accomplishment. Since 1995,
Film Independent has given out over $860,000 in cash grants to our fellows. Grants
awarded include the Spirit Awards grant, Sloan Producers grant, and the Kodak Film
Stock grant.

Dean Film and Video Grants

The Roy W. Dean Grants support film and video projects that are unique and benefit society.
The grants primarily provide goods and services donated by companies in the film and video
industry. These grants are available for shorts and low budget independents as well as
documentary filmmakers.

Oppenheimer New Filmmaker Equipment Grant Program

The Oppenheimer New Filmmaker Equipment Grant Program supports new filmmakers in
producing their first serious film project. The grant awards the use of their grant program
Arriflex 16SR camera package to senior and graduate thesis students and to independent
filmmakers for a scheduled period of time. Proposed projects may be of any
non-commercialnature: dramatic, narrative, documentary, experimental, ect.
