Heery Casting is looking for 2 experienced, non-union puppeteers with strong character voices for an 11 minute live action television series to shoot in May/June 2012 in the Philadelphia metro area.
Daily rate is negotiable dependent upon experience ($350-600/day). MUST have hand and rod puppet experience.
Character Description:
-Characters are a song and dance couple with a theatrical background who work in a family run costume shop. Dad is all show and Mom is all business and together they are the perfect show business couple. They are very playful, comedic chickens who love each other, love the business ... But most of all love their family, especially their preschooler.
-Scripts will be provided. A reader will read the other parts of the script.
-Puppets will be provided, or feel free to bring your own.

Partisans

In need of extras for a large shootout scene for WWII era web series called Partisans which follows a fictional German invasion of America during WWII.
The scene involves three different factions, all unknown to each other, who attempt to kill off an entire dinner meeting of a high ranking German officers. The factions include two different resistance groups and the local mafia crime family who are unhappy after the execution of one of their own. Everything goes haywire, with everyone shooting at everyone else and the Germans caught in the middle being slaughtered.

Synopsis of the plot: Maquette 1:1000, a 30-minute film, explores personal responses to the issue of abortion through events in two different cities, Taipei and Philadelphia. Lan, a young Asian woman studying architecture in the United States, must come to terms with a difficult decision when she discovers she is facing unexpected pregnancy for the second time. Memories come flooding back from her profound but doomed relationship with her mentor two years ago in Taiwan, when she terminated a pregnancy and left to pursue her career. Now, stuck in an unfulfilling relationship with her musician boyfriend, James, the culture shock that Lan feels in the West impacts her ideas about the choices ahead of her in this extraordinary journey.

Stained Windows is a story about a young woman name Ava, who is headstrong, and will not sway in her decisions. After running away from home, she breaks into a church seeking shelter. Earl, a gentle man who tries to see the good in everyone, catches her in the act. He agrees to let her stay if she helps him around the church. Ava, who convinces herself she has no other choice, agrees to help him. As the story continues, the two characters butt heads as they try to work together in this coming of age story.
Ava- A headstrong, seemingly know-it-all young woman who runs away from her problems. (18-20)
Earl- A gentle-hearted older man who sees the good in everyone. (35-50)

Arthur Proctor is a neurologist practicing and researching in the field of Autism and epilepsy. Arthur and his deaf, chemist associate, Kenneth, discover a chemical/surgical procedure that cures Autism. To turn a better profit, Arthur begins exploiting destitute parents of Autistic children by selling his treatment off of the medical grid to them. When a routine procedure goes horribly wrong within the early stages, Arthur and Kenneth find their situation becoming desperate.

Joe Reynolds is a baseball player who never quite made it. He now coaches kids in baseball for money in order to make ends meet. As he does this he lives with his wife, Jeanette, and kills time with his underachieving best friend, Paul. The combination of Jeanette leaving him and finding a dead body in the woods behind a baseball field causes him to evaluate the relationships in his life; mainly his friendship with Paul.

Joe Reynolds: Talented baseball player who didn't make it to the majors. Male, athletic. Looking to cast in the age range of 25-40. Baseball experience helps but is not required.
Paul: Unmotivated, underachieving friend of Joe. Frequently comes into conflict with Jeanette. Male, out of shape. Looking to cast in the age range of 25-40.

We are seeking female, male and child actors for Blackout a Temple University graduate thesis film.
Blackout is a short dramatic film about Kemi, a Tanzanian immigrant to Philadelphia who is struggles with past memories on her daughter's 8th birthday. A sudden power outage at the end of the day becomes the inspiration for an impromptu shadow play, giving Kemi a chance to confront her marriage, her heritage and herself.
The character breakdown is as follows:
Role #1: KEMI
Female / 28-38 / of African descent, Black
Kemi is a Tanzanian immigrant and mother of two, in her mid-30s.
Proficiency in Swahili is a plus!
Role #2: SAM
Male / 28-38 / of African descent, Black
Sam is a professor in his mid 30s. He is Kemi's husband and father of two.
Proficiency in Swahili is a plus!
Role #3: IMANI
Female / 8-10 / of African descent, Black
Imani is an 8 year old girl celebrating her birthday. She was born in Philadelphia to Tanzanian parents.
Role #4: MANZI
Male / 6-8 /of African descent, Black
Manzi is a 6 year old boy, the youngest member of his family. He was born in Philadelphia to Tanzanian parents.

Video Visitation (Working Title)
A student production for University of the Arts.
In the midst of a personal crisis dylan discovers his voyeuristic tendencies through an underground theater that specializes in illegal "unauthorized documentaries". As Dylan begins to place harsh judgement on the private lives of the unknowing subjects, he is soon faced with the challenge of validating himself when he too discovers that he is a documentary subject.
We're looking to cast these characters.
Dylan: Male, mid-30s.
Jacob: Male, early 40s.
Anne: Female, mid-20s to late 30s.
Theater Owner: Male, late 60s and up.
We'll be shooting in the center city area, with the possibility of one day of shooting out of the city. This is a casting call for non-paid rolls.
Casting will take place at the Terra Building of University of the Arts, 211 S. Broad Street.

Covetous

Covetous tells the story of a young girl's struggle against her mother. While walking through the woods one day, Bridget Sanders discovers a young child and brings him home. Worried of what her mother will say, she hides him away only to discover later that she was very wrong.
Bridget Sanders: (16-20 yrs old) Bridget is very demanding and needy. Constantly in search of her mother's attention, Bridget goes through great lengths just to get Melissa to notice her.
Melissa Sanders: (35-45 yrs old) Uptight and cold, Melissa is a businesswoman constantly working from home. She's Bridget's mother and widowed. In turn, making her bitter towards Bridget, whom she constantly ignores.
Jeff Harler: (35-45 yrs old) Melissa's arrogant boyfriend. Jeff works at the local quarry nearby and brings tension to the family.
Charles: (6-10 yrs old) A small child found at the basin of a large quarry, Charles is the main scapegoat in this family dynamic.

Synopsis:
Spot tells the story of Bruce, a shy and introverted young male working in a local dry cleaners who absolutely hates his job. Constantly enslaved and verbally abused by his arrogant and selfish boss Mr. Bova, things begin to take a turn for the better when Bruce begins a romantic courtship with Stephanie, a beautiful and headstrong but also introverted young woman working across the street from the dry cleaners. Complication arising when Mr. Bova makes Bruce work overtime, preventing him from taking Stephanie out, Bruce must learn to man up and confront his boss, as well as assert himself more with Stephanie.
Characters-
Bruce: (Late teens to mid-20's) Hardworking and responsible but also very shy and introverted, for a long Bruce has wanted nothing more than to quit his job at the local dry cleaners and do something more productive with his life.
Mr. Bova: (Early 30's-Mid 50's) Arrogant, selfish and extremely rude, Mr. Bova is that boss that everyone's had at least once, and never wants to have ever again. When he's not standing outside of the dry cleaners smoking cigarettes and sizing up everyone who walks past the parking lot, Mr. Bova likes to sit at his computer inside the dry cleaners and look at new outfits to buy for his 3 cats at home.
Stephanie: (20's) The beautiful and quiet girl who has recently started working at the bagel shop across the street from the dry cleaners. Stephanie is very headstrong and sure of herself, but is still able to remain humble and kind, rather than letting her looks and personality get to her head. Since she was once very shy and introverted, she sees the potential that Bruce has and can relate to him on many levels, hence why she's attracted to him.

DANCER NEEDED FOR GREEK MYTHOLOGY DANCE BATTLE ROBOT FILM

Synopsis:
Hephaestus, a young god, is cast from the heavens after losing a dance battle to Zeus, the mighty king of mount Olympus.
Crippled from the fall, and humiliated from the defeat, he curses the god and his kingdom. Instead of returning to his home on the mountain he decides to build his own heaven themed dance party on earth. He constructs a woman robot named Ladybot to keep him company, and vows never to return to Olympus again. But his past cannot be left behind so easily.
We are casting for the LADYBOT character on Saturday, February 4th.
The energetic, free spirited creation of Hephaestus, Ladybot dances brilliantly and performs magic with her sublime moves.

Therapy

Therapeutic productions is casting Therapy, a short psychological thriller that tells the story of a young woman confronting the abuse of her childhood. She seeks help from a therapist who may or may not be the man who abused her. Temple University Film & Media Arts student Ken-O is making his short film debut as a Director; fellow Temple FMA students Kathleen Quigley and Melissa Rose De Leon are producing; prolificcinematographer Matt Smith is the Director of Photography.
Shooting will take place during the last weekend (Sat 28 & Sun 29) of April in Doylestown, PA. Rehearsals to be heldm the first three weekends in April.
Seeking the following:
Actress for the lead role of Jacqui Jean-Baptiste. Early to late 20s, African American woman with natural hair i.e. (locs, Afro) in good physical shape. Looking for someone who is comfortable being real and raw (similar to RutinaWesley as Tara Thornton on True Blood).
Actor for secondary lead role of Dr. Henry Barnes. 30s to early 50s, Caucasian, slender. Should be able to convey intellectual confidence (similar to David Strathairn as Edward R. Murrow in Good Night and Good Luck).
Talented newcomers welcome, as well as experienced screen and stage actors.

Killer In The Dark

Killer in the Dark tells the story of a man who does not overcome his fears, but is forever changed by them. Peter Dawson was enjoying the late spring evening until he gets word that he has an unusual visitor. A scared rattlesnake has made it's way into Peter's cellar. What's worse is his 7-year-old daughter Gracie, and her friend Maggie are playing down there, unaware of their deadly new playmate. Peter is forced to go into the dark basement to try and protect the girls from the venomous snake, while waiting for animal control to arrive. An adaptation of the short story by the same name from author Robert Edmond Alter.
Character Breakdowns:
Peter Dawson: (Early 40?s) Mild mannered and responsible. Peter has never done anything extraordinary in his life. Living ?The American Dream,? with his well maintained suburban home, beautiful stay at home wife, and sweet daughter. Peter is the protagonist in the film, but by no means is he a hero.>
Charlotte Dawson: (Late 30?s-Early 40?s) Beautiful and elegant, but easily broken. She wears blonde curly hair, and is often found wearing a frilly apron around the house. She is a full time mom and wife, and enjoys it.
Gracie Dawson: (10) The spitting image of her mother. Gracie is adventurous and bold for a 10-year-old girl, and thinks she is much older and mature than she actually is.
George Henderson: (Mid 40?s) George is Peter?s neighbor and best friend. George has no children, although he is married. George also subscribes to the idea of ?The American Dream,? and is only slightly more of a coward than Peter is.
Marlene Ferris: (Early 50?s) The neighborhood gossip. Mrs. Ferris annoys everyone but herself. Fussy in every sense of the word, she?s more concerned about the going-on?s of other people to take a look at her own family.
Jimmy Ferris: (12) Never goes anywhere without his trusty sling shot. He wears short pants all year ?round, and is known to get into mischief from time to time. Naïve, but far from innocent.

Casting Notice for Paul's Payne
Senior thesis film seeks actors and actresses for a variety of rolls in a superhero spoof.
Auditions are being held at the University Crossings Building 3175 JFK Blvd, Philadelphia PA on January 14 and 15 from 12pm to 9pm. Walk in auditions are accepted but we recommend you reserve a time-slot. Call 860-918-3961 for more information.
This is a story about Paul Peters, a defense attorney responsible for the case of Professor Payne, a comic book style super villain. With his job on the line, Peters has to deal with an egomaniacal client, superhero witnesses, and all sorts of additional chaos. It is a comedy in the vein of Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog, The Incredibles, and Mystery Men, and pokes fun at the super hero archetypes we've all grown up with.
Lead Roles:
PAUL PETERS: Male age 21-40, a neurotic and overstressed defense attorney who's been assigned a ridiculously impossible case.
PROFESSOR PAYNE: Male age 21-40 A gaudy egomaniacal super-villain, who's arrogance makes him the biggest obstacle in his own trial! This role requires minor stunt work.
Supporting Roles:
PROSECUTOR: Female 21-35, a stern cutthroat lawyer and the main antagonist of the story.
SERGEANT JUSTICE: Male 21-35, a famous superhero with the personality of a self-absorbed celebrity. Sergeant Justice is the key witness in the trial. Physical fitness is a must for this roll.
OBSIDIAN: Male 18+, an edgy anti-hero in the vein of Rorschach and the Punisher. Obsidian is another witness with some grim testimony.
Minor Roles
Infurnal: Male 18+ one of Professor Payne's former Henchmen. Infurnal is a demon-like creature. This role requires latex based makeup therefore those with allergies should not apply.
Myme: male or female 18+. Another henchmen based on French mimes. (ability to mime recommended)
JUDGE: Male 30+ has the misfortune of conducting a circus of a trial.
BEILIF: Male 30+ helps reign in the chaos during the trial.
