GPFO AND PRODUCERS GUILD HOST OUTREACH EVENT

The Greater Philadelphia Film Office Teams Up With the
Producers Guild of America to Offer 50% PGA Membership Discount

New York, New York – July 22, 2009 – The Greater Philadelphia Film Office is joining forces with the Producers Guild of America (PGA) to host a party welcoming the Producers Guild to Philadelphia.  The networking event will take place Thursday, July 23 from 6:00pm – 9:00pm at Washington Square ( 210 W. Washington Square , Philadelphia 19106 ).  Speakers include PGA East Chair John Hadity (SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE, THE ENGLISH PATIENT, EMMA), Sharon Pinkenson , Executive Director of the Greater Philadelphia Film Office, PGA East New Media Council Chair Chris Pfaff, and veteran feature film producer David Picker (THE JERK, ORDINARY PEOPLE, MIDNIGHT COWBOY).

The Producers Guild of America is a nationwide professional organization of 4000 highly experienced producers, of which 800 comprise the fast-growing PGA East. The Guild’s many networking events, job and employment functions, seminars and parties provide an essential forum for any producers seeking to advance in the profession and make the most of their careers.

Producers Guild member Amie Baker (DINNER: IMPOSSIBLE), along with the PGA East Recruitment Committee, has spearheaded the effort in the Philadelphia area.  As a founding member of the Producers Guild of America East based out of New York , I have experienced the powerful effects that have occurred as the PGA East has grown in New York .”  She continues, “The Philadelphia region has the potential to become a powerful source of producers and production in film, TV, and new media, and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to help welcome the Guild to Philadelphia .”

The Greater Philadelphia Film Office (GPFO) is a "film commission" representing southeastern Pennsylvania that officially serves the counties of Bucks, Chester , Delaware , Montgomery , and Philadelphia . A non-profit economic development agency committed to the growth of the regional film production industry, GPFO has been responsible for impacting the local economy with more than $3 billion since 1992.

“Native Philadelphians from across the country contact us all the time with hopes of moving back home, not just to work, but to live and work. The Philadelphia outreach by the Producers Guild of America is further proof that the local film production industry is here to stay! , said Sharon Pinkenson

The two organizations look forward to continuing their collaboration with future events in the Philadelphia area, potentially in conjunction with the Philadelphia Film Festival in October.  Please visit www.producersguild.org (PGA) and www.film.org (GPFO) to learn more about the two organizations.
