Since 1992, the Greater Philadelphia Film Office has assisted in the making of 260 films and TV shows; 31 of which were backed by a studio or network, and about 70 filmed entirely in the region.

Six of the movies made in Philadelphia broke the $200 million box office ceiling. They were “The Village,” ($255 million); “Philadelphia” ($201 million); “Unbreakable” ($249 million); “Signs” ($425 million); “National Treasure ($338 million),” and the 20th highest grossing film in history, “The Sixth Sense” ($672 million), for a grand total of 2 billion, 140 million dollars in worldwide box office.

Now, even skeptical Philadelphia thinks of itself as a “movie town” today, and that accomplishment brings increased pride for the region.

The inspiration spills over to our artists, professionals, students, ATHLETES…of course, visitors and filmmakers from around the globe!
