Filmmaker Randy “Scooter” Lammey

Local filmmaker Scooter Lammey recently appeared on Good Morning America, along with the band Pawnshop Roses, to accept the award for the Best Live Performance Video in a contest sponsored by YouTube. Two cameras were used to capture the July 2006 performance at Grape Street, one operated by Scooter and the other by local Director of Photography Daniel Watchulonis, who was also the DP on Scooter's film Kicking The Dog. Scooter credits the great appearance of both the music video and the movie to Watchulonis's superb talent. Scooter recently completed Kicking The Dog, a 91 minute comedy that he wrote, directed, produced and edited in Chester County. He's currently entering film festivals and contacting distributors, although some distributors have shown interest in his film since his music video gained national exposure. Scooter spent two summers working on as many films as possible in the Philadelphia area, learning from both the ultra-low budget shoots and the high end professional productions. 'I learned proper management and protocol from the large productions, and I witnessed the problems and mistakes that I wanted to avoid, but often occur, on lower budgets', said Lammey. 'I hired a great crew and after many long casting trips to NYC, I had a 12 member cast that brought Kicking The Dog to life in a way I never imagined. It's the type of film that will take over college campuses, because it's a movie about real situations. About twelve friends who need to make life changing decisions, but spend most of their time partying and reminiscing about the good times. And I guarantee you won't stop laughing,' Scooter said. The soundtrack consists of 20 songs from Philly area bands, which is how Scooter met Pawnshop Roses, who have five songs in Kicking The Dog. 'Only because they only had five songs recorded at the time', said Scooter.
