Temple University Graduate Thesis Film
Seeking more than 100 actors for large-scale graduate thesis film. Shooting dates: June 13-16 (Fri-Mon). Those unavailable on shooting dates need not audition.
This is a film built on small moments with many featured characters; very few lead roles, dozens of featured “day player” roles. Considering all ages and types. Compensation: credit, copy and food. Union and non-union welcome. Audition info below. If you are interested but cannot make the 1st audition, appointments will be considered on an individual basis.
1st AUDITION: Sunday, May 11th, 1-6pm.
RM14, Annenberg Hall, Temple University.
2020 N. 13th street (between Diamond and Norris).
Email crossroadscasting@gmail.com to schedule 5-minute block for your audition. Please arrive with 2-minute monologue, prepared to cold read.
Synopsis: A high school graduation comes to a halt when a disabled girl is singled out as a hero for making her way up a wheelchair ramp. She retaliates with quiet provocation – breaking away from the ceremony – but instead of shaming the crowd she embarrasses her parents, the two people who are truly on her side.
PRINCIPLE ROLES
Tom Singleton: late 40s to early 60s, father of a disabled daughter. Easily agitated, defensive, prone to antagonism. Vulnerable to his daughter’s feelings. Relied on to protect the family.
Helen Singleton: mid-40s to mid-50s, mother of a disabled daughter. Burdened by too much responsibility, feels blamed by her daughter and criticized by her husband. Relied on to hold the family together.
Principal: 50s or thereabouts. Pitch-perfect educational tone masks lack of emotional investment – checked out years ago, but maintains public image. Considering radical career change.
Natalie Kramer: HS senior (or can pass). Class valedictorian, Honor Society, etc. Frustrated, beginning to see that playing by the rules doesn’t yield what it ought to. On the verge of a personal rebellion.
Mr. Mellner (Vice Principal): 40s-50s. Impatient, tightly wound, bad temper. Herds students through finger snaps and whistle bursts. Constantly running around, possibly a little inept.
Please send head shot, or recent candid shot, and resume to crossroadscasting@gmail.com
