As part of its mission to protect and promote the health of the Philadelphia community, the Department of Public Health operates many facilities, including several neighborhood health centers and an air pollution control laboratory. These locations may be available for film productions, with approval by the Health Commissioner.
Regarding film production, the Department’s Air Management Services and Environmental Health Services Units oversee the management of potential environmental hazards that may be associated with special effects, including the use of noxious chemicals, laser equipment or exotic animals, disturbance of asbestos containing materials, generation of infectious wastes or creation of undue noise or vibration.
The Environmental Health Services unit is to be notified of all circumstances in which the Department of Licenses and Inspections requires Department of Public Health approval prior to issuance of a license or permit. Department of Licenses and Inspections.
