Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corporation (GPTMC) is a public/private partnership founded and funded in 1996 by the City of Philadelphia, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and The Pew Charitable Trusts. In 1996, GPTMC launched the first centralized effort to promote to potential tourists the diverse historical, cultural and entertainment/leisure aspects of the five-county region (Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia). This centralized effort Continues with a fully integrated marketing program, including consumer research; advertising in television, print, outdoor and the Internet; and public relations in all media categories.

GPTMC’s mission is to develop and implement effective marketing programs that promote a positive regional image of and overnight leisure visitation to the Philadelphia region. Major initiatives include advertising, public relations, regional marketing partnerships, research, trade show promotion, cultural tourism marketing and running the tourism Web site, www.gophila.com and a pressroom at www.gophila.com/pressroom.
