The Film Office works with the School District of Philadelphia and other school districts to arrange for the use of elementary, middle and high schools in the Philadelphia area. All inquiries should be directed to the Film Office.
Philadelphia’s approximately 260 public schools are in all types of neighborhoods, ranging from commercial to tree lined residential neighborhoods. More than 155 schools have been listed on the National Register of Historic Places. They range in style from Colonial Revival to Art Deco. There are also many modern buildings in the school district’s inventory.
Philadelphia public schools can be used for filming if the proposed project does not seriously interrupt the school’s schedule, if the production pays for actual costs incurred by the school district, and if the company complies with simple legal requirements. The Film Office will assist you in making your request.
Complete floor plans, which includes electrical and plumbing information, are available for all schools in Philadelphia.
